Weekly Sabbath Study emails

Shalom! to you Friend,

Here is a mid-summer blessing for you and yours from your friends at JC Studies. In this edition, Doug Ward shares another excellent article, The Samaritan Woman as Model Disciple. Tom Guilliams continues his insightful audio study in the Book of Acts, seeking to uncover dynamic truths by applying a Hebraic perspective. And in our Haverim Community Online, to honor the Feast of Tabernacles, this autumn we will be exploring together the form and function of wisdom literature in the Bible of Jesus (the O.T.).

But First, a Whitman Family Homecoming

Rejoice with Tamóra and me as we welcomed our youngest daughter home after 5 months of mission work in New Zealand, Fiji, and Vanuatu. Margaret came home with stories of God’s goodness unveiled as her YWAM team taught English in the schools, served with and built up local churches, spent time with locals and prayed for people in hospitals, all while freely sharing the Good News of hope in Jesus.

What’s Next at JC Studies?

Join me on August 1st at Noon (EDT-USA) for a presentation in our online Crowdcast space. I’m going to outline our way forward as we deep dive into the life-giving wisdom tradition practiced and embodied by Messiah Jesus, the one who grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man. That is a missional statement of our Father’s intent for us and a powerful snapshot of being a disciple who is making disciples. There is no cost to participate, but you must register to save a space. Even if you can’t make the live event (though I hope you can), you can watch the recording later when you’re able.

Preaching with a Hebraic Perspective

I relish the invitations to creatively proclaim the Good News. In June, I gave a talk on dealing with and defeating negative thoughts. It resulted in a powerful time of hearing and responding to what I titled A Heart for Weeding. In it, I shared intimate glimpses into my life that resonated with the congregation. You can view the video recording in our online space.

What Dwight Pryor Means for the Kingdom

The testimony below attests to the lasting impact of Dwight’s teaching. If you support JC Studies financially, thank you! If you have not given in a while, we could use your help today. Thank you.

“I have received amazing insights and nuggets but what I value most is how he exhorts us to keep Jesus the main thing. My appreciation for and understanding of all of God’s Word has increased, my relationship with God deepened, and in ministry to hurting, broken people, I’ve been able to present a more accurate picture of Our Father and Messiah Jesus in whom we are made both whole and holy.”
